At Boho Hair & Body, we believe beauty shouldn't cost the earth.
We are committed to preserving the environment and reducing our commercial waste as much as possible.
We're conscious of the negative impacts businesses can have on the local and surrounding environments, and work hard to do our part in reducing our impact.
As a result, we've proud to announce we have partnered with Sustainable Salons Australia. This means we are now recognised as a Sustainable Salon, where 95% of our salon waste is collected and then redirected for reuse, recycling and repurposing solutions.
We recycle anything from hair, paper, plastics, metals (including aluminium foil), chemicals, razors as well as hair dressing tools from our salon as part of our ongoing commitment to being a Sustainable Salon.
LESS WASTE = LESS LANDFILL
Hair is an incredibly reusable resource, unknown to many!
Hair clippings can actually be collected and be stuffed into sausage-like stockings to create hair booms.
Hair booms have been designed to help clean up oil spills along the Australian coast, which have been extremely effective in soaking up the oil waste.
Ponytails can also be collected to make wigs for a variety of charities!
Chemical waste can be collected too, which can then be mixed with recycled water and used for manufacturing instead of going into drains and contaminating oceans.
At Boho Hair & Body, we are careful and vigilant with what chemicals we use, and how we can collect waste. Providing both hair and beauty services, we follow strict procedures to collect chemical waste and dispose of as per our sustainability practices.
The hairdressing industry in Australia alone sends 1.5 million kilos of aluminium to landfill every year.
Aluminium is infinitely recyclable, so all salon metals including foil, aluminium colour tubes, canisters and product packaging are diverted from landfill back into recycled resources.
At Boho Hair & Body we collect all metal materials and recycle accordingly, ensuring our salon has minimal waste from our hair and beauty services.
We proudly use 'Pure’ and ‘Davines’ hair product ranges by Hairjamm; a Brisbane family-owned and based company. Pure products are made in Australia and distributed Australia wide, which is yet another reason why we are proud to be a part of and support the Hairjamm group.
All product bottles by Hairjamm are made from landfill waste plastic and all contents are paraben free, sulphate free, gluten free, vegan friendly and not tested on animals.
Pure products use natural ingredients of natural origin.
We love the Pure range because:
Their organic ingredients are ‘100% certified’
Vegan friendly formulations
No animal testing
No sulphates and parabens
No genetically modified ingredients
Gluten free formulations
We also stock the Pure bath and rinse range in the salon, as well as male and female Pure hair care products.
For our body and skin treatments, we are proud to exclusively use Vagheggi products. It is also a family-owned company, and all Vagheggi Phytocosmetics are 100% made in Italy, packaged using eco-friendly paper and containers that do not release phthalates.
Vagheggi products give astounding results by using 300 raw materials of extracts, essential oils, flower molecules, plants, roots, algae & minerals. We have tried and tested, and are dedicated to providing only the very best products to our clients.
With over 40 years of experience, Vagheggi follows careful fair-trade and sustainable development policies, using suppliers that comply with local and international laws to protect and develop the environment which interact with the local community, providing jobs and maintaining the traditional harvesting and processing techniques.
